The 2 DVDs, CD, and Handbook enable teachers to masterfully teach in minutes or days, what usually takes months to cover. Teachers will be able to captivate the attention of all of their students, especially the 'under-taught', long enough to rebuild and extend their Math foundation without undue stress. The fear of Math will dissipate!
WHAT TO EXPECT FROM CONSISTENT USE THIS MATERIAL:
If teachers use Harriett's techniques for the following skills DAILY for 5 weeks, at least 85% of the class will master multiplication facts; read/ round/ compare/ identify place name/ place value of whole numbers and decimals; expanded notation of whole numbers and decimals; compare and order fractions; add, order, and subtract decimals; subtraction with trading, change percents to decimals to fractions; and inverse operations.
Within another 3-5 days, (90 min. per day), at least 80% + of your class will master how to reduce, subtract, compare, multiply, and divide fractions; change percents to decimals to fractions, and plot on number lines.
Within 2 days, (90 min. per day), 80% mastery of adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing signed numbers.
In 1 lesson, students can master equivalents of negative and positive exponential notations or Scientific Notation.
Other skills: subtraction with trading (5 days), multiple-digit multiplication (2days), properties of basic mathematical operations (4 days), plotting mixed notations on number lines (3 days), (+,-,x, /)signed numbers (2 days), telling time on standard clock or elapsed time (4 days), metric system (6 days), when to add/subtract to solve word problems (5-7 days),...
The CD has songs to reinforce skills presented in handbook, plus team/school-spirit songs. In the comfort of home, teachers can watch the DVD until they are comfortable enough to present to the class. Students can listen to the CD as skills are presented on the board from the Teacher Handbook. The following is a comment from 'The Oprah Show', ('What's Working in Education?), aired April 13-14 and Aug.1, 2006, with David Levin and Mike Feinberg (founding fathers of the KIPP Academies which are named after Harriett's song, 'Knowledge Is Power', in honor of her contributions as their mentor), and Bill Gates. Since Harriett could not be there, Oprah sent a film crew to Harriett.

"That's a big part of the KIPP philosophy. We felt like we could make learning fun and we could get kids to come to school and they would not want to go home." Dave says.
Mike and Dave say they got the idea for this style of learning from a teacher named Harriett Ball whom they met in an inner city public school (Houston). She came into my room and in one day--in 45 minutes-- taught what I had failed to teach in three months."
